Personal Best is a compilation album of early hits by Selena Y Los Dinos. The album was released by CBS Records in 1991. All the songs included, were taken from the albums Preciosa and Dulce Amor. The album spunned 50,000 copies in America alone.

Production[]

Personal Best was released by CBS Records, a subsidiary of Sony Records, which licensed the songs from Selena's previous record company, R.P. Productions. Given, when the album was released, it was most likely an attempt, by Sony, to profit from Selena's then growing popularity. The album was produced in limited quantity, making it quite the collectors item, for Selena fans. All the songs included, were taken from the albums "Preciosa" and "Dulce Amor," which were Selena's final two albums, on the R.P Productions record label, before joining CAPITOL/EMI Latin. The songs included, were officially released on CD for the first time, on this album. These songs, showcased how Selena Y Los Dinos, got where they currently were. It should also be noted, that this album was marketed as being by Selena Y Los Dinos, even though Selena's own label, had started marketing her, as a solo artist.
