La Leyenda (English: The Legend), is the name of a scheduled posthumous release set, for Tejano singer Selena, that will be released by CAPITOL Latin/EMI and Q-Productions. The album is scheduled, for a March 9, 2010 release, to commemorate the 15th anniversary of her passing. This set, will be released in three formats, which are a four-disc boxset, a two-disc special edition album, and a single-disc album. According to Suzzette Quintanilla's YouTube video, CAPITOL Latin/EMI teamed up with Q-Productions, to release this set. She also asked Selena fans around the world, to contribute a special message to Selena, as well as a photograph of themselves, that may or may not be included in the release. The boxset, will also contain an exclusive Selena charm, and four booklets that include messages from Selena's family, friends, and fans, from around the world.

In October 2009, CAPITOL Latin/EMI teamed up with Q-Productions, and agreed on releasing the album, to commemorate the 15th anniversary of Selena's death. It was then decided, that the release would be done, in three different formats. A four-disc boxset, a two-disc special edition album, and a single-disc album. Shortly thereafter, Selena's sister released a public video about this project, in which she reached out to the fans, asking them to contribute a special message to Selena, as well as a photograph of themselves, that may or may not be used for this album's release, as space was limited, and not everyone could be included. Around early December 2009, the video was later removed from the site, suggesting submissions were no longer accepted. The name of the album, "La Leyenda," was then made known to the public, through Amazon.com.
Promotion and Release Details[]
In May 2009, Univision Network released a Selena special entirely in Spanish called Selena La Historia de una Leyenda (Selena History of a Legend) and again during the last week of November 2009, Univision released the video.
As told in the video, Selena's fans will have a big part in being publicly viewed on the box set. Q-Productions released a press release on January 12, 2010, describing the box set's formats.
