Abraham is Selena's father and the patriarch of the family. He is musically inclined and sees real potential in Selena and her abilities. He is the driving force behind the creation and success of their family band.

Plot summary[]

Abraham and his family are living in Texas. Abraham himself used to play music and was always musically inclined. After he hears his youngest daughter, Selena, sing- he decides to form a family band. Abraham and his wife, Marcella, manage the band which comprises of Selena and her siblings Suzette and AB. The band is called Southern Pearl, a cover band that sings golden oldies.

The family struggles through an economic recession and small gigs, until they have a successful performance at a family friend's wedding, which encourages them to continue. Abraham wants to change the band’s focus to Spanish-language music, forming Selena Y Los Dinos.

Abraham oversees Selena and the band as they record their first LP. In 1988, Abraham buys a bus so the band can go on tour.

At the end of Part 1, Abraham accidentally sees Selena and Chris in a private moment and immediately kicks him off the bus despite Selena's protests. He is furious because he’s protective of Selena.
